The Yoruba Industry has experienced the demise of many female actresses who were very much part of the growth of the movie industry.
The death of these females actresses came as a shock to their families, colleagues, their fans and Nollywood fans at large. This makes everyone continue to remember these female role models.
This article will be talking about 12 of these actresses when they died and the cause of their death.
1. Funmi Martins
Funmi Martins died on the 6th of May, 2002, at 38 at the Oshuntuyi Medical Hospital in Lagos. According to the medical reports, her death was caused by cardiac arrest, which happened because of her rheumatic heart disease
Mide Martins was born on the 12th of April, 1979 in Lagos State, the Southwestern part of Nigeria.
2. Rachel Oniga
Rachel died on Friday, 30th of July, 2021 at the age of 64. She was born on 23 May 1957 in Ebute Metta, Lagos State.
3. Moji Olaiya
Moji died on the 17th of May 2017 in Canada. She died after giving birth to her second child. Moji was buried on the 7th of June 2017 at the Ikoyi Cemetery, Lagos. She was born on the 27th of February, 1975 in Nigeria.
4. Henrietta Kosoko
Henrietta died on Monday, 6th of June, 2016 after suffering from diabetes. She left 4 children behind, they are Taiwo Olowu, Kehinde Olowu, Muyiwa Kosoko and Temilade Kosoko.
5. Bukky Ajayi
Bukky Ajayi Zainab was born on the 6th of July 2016, in Surulere, Lagos. She was born on the 2nd of February, 1934
6. Toyin Majekodunmi
Toyin Majekodunmi popularly known as Iya Kike was a veteran Yoruba movie actress and producer, she passed away 2nd of January, 2017.
7. Bisi Komolafe
Bisi died on the 31st of December 2012 at the University College Hospital in Ibadan. She died of pregnancy-related complications after giving birth. Bisi was born in 1986 in Ibadan, Oyo State Capital.
8. Kudirat Ajimati
Kudirat Ajimati is another actress missed by Yoruba Nollywood. She died on Tuesday, 14th of November, 2016.
9. Folake Aremu
Folake Aremu also known as Orisabunmi died at the age of 60 at her home in Ibadan, Oyo state
10. Aishat Abimbola
Aishat Abimbola was born on the 15th of May 2018 in Canada and was buried there according to Islamic rite. She 1was born on the 19th of December 1970 in Lagos State.
11. Funke AlHassan
Funke Abisogun AlHassan died on the 23rd of October, 2017. She died four days after welcoming her baby
12. Modupe Oyekunle
Modupe Oyekunle died in 2017 in Lagos State. She died while giving birth to her third child. Hopefully, the baby survived!
