Mercy Johnson started her movie career in 2003 after she was auditioned for a role in The Maid. She subsequently acted in other movies like Hustlers, Baby Oku in America, Dumebi.
She won an award for Best supporting actress in 2009 and Best actress award at the 2013 African Magic viewers choice award for the role of Dumebi the dirty girl.
Mercy has a foundation called Mercy Johnson Okojie Foundation that was created to help widows and the Less Privilege.
