Veteran Nigerian Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, also known as Davido has opened up on his father’s reaction to his Grammy loss.
Davido also stated that being nominated for the just concluded 66th edition of the Grammys Awards is enough to make him proud.
The Nigerian-American singer and songwriter was nominated for Global Music Album — Timeless, Global Music Performance — Feel and Best African Music Performance — Unavailable.
It is no longer news that the first-time Grammy nominee lost all 3 categories at the just concluded 66th Record Academy Awards held at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
Speaking about his journey to stardom during his latest interview with Rolling Stone, the Grammy nominee stated that despite the loss his father told him that he remains a legend. Davido said:
“Being nominated alone is enough to make me proud of myself. I just want my song to be heard on the radio once or twice in the beginning, but for it to transcend to this is just amazing and God’s doing.
“I was on the phone with my dad yesterday and he was like ‘Son no matter what happens, you are still a legend’. So yeah, he is a big fan.”
Still on the Grammys, Cynthia Morgan comforted Davido following his loss at the Grammy Awards 2024, which took place on Monday, February 5.
The rapper stated that while she is no longer a fan of Davido, she wishes he should have won at least one award from his three nominations.
Cynthia Morgan said her reason is that peace would have reigned in the country if the singer won the award.
In an Instagram live video, she also opened up on why she and Davido are not cool with each other.
Speaking on 3 bittersweet moments with the Grammy nominee, Cynthia Morgan said he snubbed her twice and was welcoming during their third encounter, so much so that he invited her to his father’s birthday party.
She stated that she didn’t attend the function due to previous unpleasant circumstances and believes that’s why Davido began to give her attitude.
