Oba Rilwan Akiolu, a devoted Muslim, is married to four wives. Olori Talabi Titiola, his first wife, is the one publicly known among them.
Little is known about all his children, but one of them, Moshood Akinolu, is a member of Nigeria’s Federal House of Representatives, representing Lagos Island II.

Riliwan attended Ansar-Ud-Deen College in Surulere, Lagos State before going to the University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos State, where he studied law.

Oba Rilwan Akiolu has a length of career in the corporate world before he began his rulership as the Eleko of Eko. He joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1970 and served for about 32 years. He worked in several capacities and was promoted at different times until he became the assistant inspector-general of Police in 1999. He actively served in the Nigeria police force until 2002 when he retired.
The Oba of Lagos is also a member of various prestigious organizations. Some of these are the Nigerian Institute of Management and a fellow of the Nigerian Law School.

Oba Rilwan Akiolu had his coronation filled with mirth and pleasure on the 9th of August, 2003. He is the successor to the late Oba Adeyinka Oyekan.
He was selected by the kingmakers of the Lagos traditional kingdom on May 23, 2003. The then Lagos State Government confirmed him as the 21st Oba of Lagos state.
Oba Riliwan Akinolu Achievements
In 2021, President Muhammadu Buhari appointed the monarch as the Chancellor of Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto.
He has also wooed top firms like Zenith Bank and Dangote to help build medical centres in Lagos Island.
The monarch also reportedly donated N10 million to victims of a collapsed building in Lagos Island to cater for the rehabilitation and treatment of the victims.
