She is the daughter of popular Fuji musician, Shina Peter and late popular veteran actress, Funmi Martins. She is an indigenous of Lagos State, southwestern part of Nigeria. She was born on the 12th of April, 1979.

Mide Martins was never interested in acting in her early days. However, she saw her mom as an inspiration and success in the industry; which spurred her to take up the profession. Sadly, her mom died of Cardiac arrest in 2002. She considers acting to retain her mom’s memory.

Funmi Martins was a shining star of the Yoruba movie industry in the ’90s. She was born in September 1963 in Ilesa, Osun State.
She is Funmi Oguntomi and spent her early life in Lagos and Ibadan. Before acting, she tried going into modelling. After that, Mide Martins’ mother took a bold step to become an actress.
In 1993, she acted her first movie, “Nemesis” directed by Fidelis Duker. Even though her career was rather short-lived, Funmi Martins was seen in dozens of movies. Her most notable films include Eto Mi, Pelumi, Ija Omode, Eru Eleru, and more.
Mide Martin’s mother was actively working on new films before passing away. Two weeks before her death, Funmi was shooting a movie, “Aduro Ti Oluwa”.
Earlier, Funmi was seen hanging out with her colleague Foluke Daramola at the All Seasons Plaza in Lagos, and she seemed as healthy as ever.
Nevertheless, on May 5, 2002, the actress started feeling ill. While she was at her Iju-Ishaga residence, Funmi complained that she was feeling dizzy all of a sudden.
Just next morning on May 6, 2002, Mide Martins’s mother died at the Oshuntuyi Medical Hospital in Lagos of cardiac arrest.
